Sunday Worship Service II / Pastor Shin, Bong Jun
He Set My Feet on A Rock
(Ps. 40:1-17)
Introduction: For what should you live to be truly happy? How should you live to be happy? For the Christians, there is a way to true happiness which is different from the ways all the other people in the world walk into. They live diligently in their own ways, but emptiness come to them after all if they do not have the Gospel. That is why the life for the sake of the Gospel is the happiest one. Gospel means that you live as a child of God in this world(Jn. 1:12). It also means that you live enjoying the blessings from God(1Cor. 3:21). It is the guarantee of complete victory after the complete healing of your life and the complete guidance (Mt. 3:13-15). It is also the solution to the everlasting problem (Jn. 5:24). The Gospel itself is a power, so it leads the Christians into victory.(Php. 1:6). You who already have this Gospel must receive the filling of the Holy Spirit to win over the forces of darkness and spiritual problems in this world. To live a life for the sake of the Gospel, you must grab hold of three things from today"s scripture.
1. Thanksgiving and gratefulness always should gush out from your heart like a spring.
(1) David confessed his thankfulness about the grace of salvation.
1) Our past was in the field of disaster like David"s. (v.2 slimy pit, mud, mire)
2) The life without God is fell into sin, curses, and spiritual problems.
3) As the result of this, troubles keep coming, and physical and mental sufferings
are caused by idol worship. After all, the hell is the final destination.
4) Receiving salvation means the freedom from the everlasting curses of Satan.
(v.2 "He set my feet on a rock")
(2) You must not miss the fact that you have been saved by Christ all the times.
2. You must receive the grace from the word.
(1)David had kept the word in his mind with the spiritual ears open.(v.6-8)
(2)The work of God will take place when the word is placed in the center of your
mind.
1)You cannot overcome the worldly culture without being led by the word.
2)The person who grabs hold of the word never gets failed until the word
fulfills.(Joseph, Paul)
3)Not the person who prays a lot but the person who grabs hold of the covenant
receives the answer.
4)The walk of faith is; receiving the pulpit messages with expectation and
enjoying the fulfillment of the word in the field.
(3)The word will be heard and realized as much as you thank and get inspired
by the grace of the salvation.
3. You should experience the grace of God in your life.
(1) God"s grace will appear when you receive grace from the word.
(2) A person who receives grace does not lose hold of his current field.
1) The best chance to do the best preparation is now.
(David who prepared with prayer and praise when he was a shepherd.)
2) David asked for God"s grace even in the midst of difficulties.
(v. 12-13, v.16-17)
3) The Early Church members and Paul had experienced God"s grace time to
time. (Ac. 5:41, Php. 1:12-20)
Conclusion: The life for the sake of the Gospel is the happiest one. When you receive grace from the word and ask for God"s grace in everything having thanksgiving and gratefulness, you will reveal God"s grace from where you are like Joseph and Daniel who were in slavery and captivity. This is God"s plan and hope (Dan. 6:25-27) God will "set my feet on a rock" and will let "many people see and fear this so that they rely on Jehovah".
